- Not adhering to the recommendations below will VOID your warranty.
Facts about Amplifier Failure and it's causes:
- Number 1 cause of amplifier failure is the manner of INSTALLATION.
- Amps must be mounted so that they do not slide around or bounce around.
- Mounting amps to speaker boxes is NOT GOOD. The vibration can harm the circuit boards integrity.
- Amps need good air circulation to run cool. Overheating an amp will cause it to fail.
- NEVER wire your speakers in a way that exceeds the manufacturers recommendations. I.E. if the manual says to only use it in bridged mode with a 4 ohm speaker load, never attach more than one 4 ohm speaker to your amplifier in bridged mode. It may be louder, but you are going to overheat the amp and cause it to fail.
- Never do anything that can cause a short in your speaker wires. The amplifiers built in protection circuit may not react fast enough to save your amp.
- Always use recommended wire gauge for your power and speaker wires.
- Never let moisture get into your amp. This one is a given, since most people know that Electricity and Water do not mix well.
- If the thermal protection is causing your amplifier to shut down you need to check your install and make sure that you have sufficient airflow around the amplifier and that you do not have too many speakers attached to any channel of your amplifier. It is NOT "normal" for the thermal protection to activate. Something is wrong, it should never go into thermal protect unless you did something wrong.
- Never put a larger amp fuse in your amplifier. If it came with a 30 amp and the manual says 30 amp, never use a 35 amp or 40 amp to stop it from blowing. Check your installtion, you likely have too many speakers attached to the amplifier in Parallel. Try wiring your speaker in Series.
- If your amplifier has a built in fan make sure that nothing is blocking air flow around the amplifier.
- Always disconnect your negative battery terminal on your car before installing your amplifier. Do not reconnect it until you are done.
